Microneedling. What is it? Why should I do it? How should I do it? What products should I use? After 3 years of questions about the process and my experience with microneedling, I decided to create a video and blog post (link) addressing the many aspects of microneedling. My appreciation for microneedling has grown, in addition to helping me gain popularity my skin has improved immensely. Microneedling helps to allow a more youthful look through the injection of collagen and elastin, as well as reduces the effect of sun damage and scarring.
To start off we first need our products. As pens go, I believe there is no one size fits all. You have to consider YOUR budget and YOUR goals. In my past videos, I have done reviews on a variety of the different pens I’ll talk about in the video. If you’re interested in a specific one, make sure to check out my review (linked here).
Along with pens, you will also need cartridges. Through my experience, I have found that the higher cartridge the less aggressive the process will be in your skin. Determining which cartridge to buy, also depends on your purpose. For example, if your focus is on scars, I would recommend using 9, 12, or 16 (link here).
After your products have been assembled you might wonder what speed to microneedle at. (11:42) Once again, this all depends on what you’re using it for, and how deep your cartridge is going.
Another common question is what to use when you’re microneedling (12:39). As I mentioned in the video, my favorite affordable hyaluronic acid is the Cos de Baha from amazon (link). I also tend to use this stem cell from celltermi (link) and this curenex (link). The other products I like to use are linked below, so be sure to take a look at any you think would fit your needs.
Now that you know the basics of what is needed you might wonder how often you should microneedle your skin (18:20). As recorded in the video I microneedle once a month, my monthly videos can be found here (link), however I try to use a variety of serums like stem cells, hyaluronic acids, and retinae. When many people think of microneedling, they imagine the repeated puncture of needles into your skin. As addressed in the video, it may make you wonder if it’s painful. While it is not always necessary the option of using numbing creams (link here to filler house numbing cream) is always available. Microneedling can be an incredible way to rejuvenate your skin.
